Making Machine Magic Seminar Projects

Debbie Glenn's Angel Kisses Daygown and Blessing Booties won first place blue ribbon in the professional division of the 2006 Smocking Arts Guild of America National Convention Design Show.   This precious ensemble plus a matching Heaven Sent Bonnet will be the class project of her 2007 Machine Magic School.  Debbie is also working on a simplified version of the daygown and possibly a boys romper option as well.  These spectacular white linen coordinates are the perfect for your little angel, even if they must be stored in grandma's hope chest in anticipation!

Vintage aqua mother of pearl buttons set the color palette on the model garments.  However students will have the option of using aqua, pink, blue, or white on white for an exquisite christening set.  Debbie's signature fine corded satin stitch scallops trim the collar, yokes, turn back cuffs, and adorable matching booties.   Heaven Sent Bonnet features variable width padded satin stitch scallops with picots.  Hand embroidered floral vines embellish the bonnet brim and shaped front yoke which overlays a skirt smocked with baby waves.  The shaped front and back yokes are attached to the skirts with machine hemstitching (instead of a traditional piped seam) adding classic elegance to this darling daygown.

Price includes all teaching fees, Angel Kisses Daygown, Blessings Booties, & Heaven Sent Bonnet patterns, daily kits, a registration dessert reception with a peak at Debbie’s vintage christening gown collection, 2 catered in house lunches plus 1 in an art gallery, 3 dinners in favorite local restaurants, Sunday Farewell brunch, optional evening sit n' sew and mini workshops with freshly baked cookies, a carriage ride tour of Aiken, time to explore to Aiken’s Historical Museum Banksia, Hopeland Gardens, the Thoroughbred Racing Hall of Fame, and Rye Patch Rose Garden, plus a wine & cheese party

$870.00 per person double occupancy / $1060.00 per person single occupancy

Price includes all of the above, plus double occupancy accommodations at The Guest House at Houndslake, and a complimentary continental breakfast bar which includes a variety of healthy, delicious foods (coffee, milk, juice, fresh-baked pastries, cereal, seasonal fruit, and yogurt), plus transportation to and from the Augusta Ga. Regional Airport (a 45 minute trip).  Guests at the lodge will have clubhouse dining privileges and may use the Houndslake Country Club Olympic sized pool; plus the golf course and tennis courts on a space available basis.

Please note that students will be responsible for all incidentals and services booked through the Guest House (telephone, pro shop, golf cart charges, etc.) during their stay.  We will try to assist in arranging transportation for those flying into Columbia SC Metropolitan Airport. 

Roommates

All attendees are encouraged to stay at The Guest House where the retreat is being held.  We will provide name and contact information for those interested in locating roommates, but accepts no liability for such arrangements.

Registration   

Please register by phone at 803-642-1852, on line by sending completed registration form to debbie@loveandstitches.com, or mail a printed form to Debbie Glenn at 14 Cherry Hills Drive, Aiken, SC 29803.    Please note space is limited to 10-14 students; so classes are expected to fill quickly.  A $100 registration fee is required to confirm booking.  The balance is due by Oct 1, 2008.      

A block of rooms at The Guest House has already been booked so there is no need to personally contact the Houndslake Country Club.  Please be sure to indicate your housing preferences on the registration form, as accommodations are limited and must be confirmed.

Cancellations & Refunds  

Cancellations before Oct 1, 2008 refunded class fee (minus registration fee).  No refunds will be issued after Oct 1^st, unless the retreat is cancelled by the instructor due to insufficient participation.  In such an event, students will be notified by Oct 5th and a full refund issued.
